CapCut desktop can refuse every login method, Google, TikTok, Facebook or email, even when you pay for Pro. The fix that works is to connect both your phone and computer to a VPN in another region, sign in on the CapCut phone app, then scan the desktop app's QR code with it.
This works on both Mac and Windows. If you're on a Mac, there's a second fix further down that's worth trying first if you don't want to set up a VPN.
How to sign in to CapCut desktop with a VPN and QR code
- Install a VPN on your phone. Download a free VPN app on the phone that has CapCut.
- Connect your phone to the UK. Pick a United Kingdom server, like London, and connect.
- Sign in on the CapCut mobile app. Open CapCut on your phone and log in with the same account you use on desktop.
- Install a VPN on your computer. Download a free VPN for your Mac or Windows PC. It doesn't have to be the same VPN as your phone.
- Connect your computer to the UK. Pick the same United Kingdom region and connect.
- Open the QR code on CapCut desktop. Open CapCut, click Log in and choose the QR code option so the code shows on screen.
- Scan the QR code with your phone. In the CapCut mobile app, open the scan option and point your camera at the code.
- Confirm the login. Tap Confirm on your phone. The desktop app should now show you as signed in.
Use the official CapCut app from the App Store or Google Play for this. You only need it to approve the desktop login.
Once you're in, you can turn the VPN off and check that CapCut stays signed in. If it logs you out again, turn the VPN back on while you work.
Set Chrome as your default browser (Mac)
On a Mac, CapCut desktop can fail to sign in because of your default browser. Switching it to Chrome fixed it for some people.
- Install Google Chrome if you don't have it.
- Open System Settings and go to Desktop & Dock.
- Set Default web browser to Google Chrome.
- Quit CapCut fully, open it again and sign in.

If you're signed in but Pro features block your export, read how to fix CapCut not exporting Pro features. It uses the same VPN switch.
FAQ
Is CapCut desktop not signing in because of a server outage? It can be. Login failures on CapCut desktop tend to show up during wider server outages. If you can wait, it may clear on its own. If you can't, the VPN and QR code method got people signed in while it was still broken.
Do the fixes differ on Mac and Windows? The VPN and QR code fix works on both. The default browser fix is for Mac, where CapCut hands the login off to your default browser and can fail if that browser isn't Chrome.
