The "No dialogue found" error usually means Premiere's transcription engine can't hand off results to your project. On a laptop, the most common cause is outdated GPU drivers. Update them and make sure Windows is fully patched.
Update your GPU drivers and Windows
- Open Device Manager (right-click Start, pick Device Manager).
- Expand Display adapters, right-click your GPU, and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers and let Windows install the latest version.
- Open Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. Install everything offered, including optional driver updates.
- Restart the laptop, launch Premiere, and try transcribing again.
Move the project out of a synced folder
If the project lives in Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud, the sync client can interrupt Premiere while it writes the transcript.
- Close Premiere.
- Copy the
.prprojfile to a plain local folder (for example,C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Premiere Projects). - Open Premiere, use File > Save As to save a fresh copy in that local folder.
- Run the transcription again.
Clear the media cache manually
A corrupted cache database can return "No dialogue found" even when the audio is fine.
- Quit Premiere completely.
- Open Preferences > Media Cache and note the two folder paths: Media Cache Files and Media Cache Database.
- Open each folder in File Explorer and delete everything inside both folders.
- Relaunch Premiere, re-import your clip, and transcribe.
Check waveforms, cache paths, and audio settings
If the waveform is missing or flat, Premiere is feeding silence to the transcriber.
- Look at the clip in the Timeline and Source Monitor. If there's no waveform, go to Preferences > Media Cache and verify both cache paths point to an existing, writable drive. Delete unused media cache files, then re-import and watch for the conforming progress bar in the lower right.
- In the Transcribe dialog, check the Audio source dropdown. Set it to Mix (not a single track) and make sure no tracks are muted or disabled.
- Right-click the clip > Modify > Audio Channels and confirm the mapping puts audio into the mixdown.
- In the Transcribe dialog, click the cloud icon next to the language dropdown to install the English pack from inside Premiere (not the Creative Cloud app). Quit and relaunch so the pack loads.
- As a clean test, create a brand new empty project, import the WAV, right-click it in the Project panel, and choose Transcribe. If it works here, the issue was the old project or preferences. Reset preferences by holding Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) while Premiere launches.

FAQ
Why does updating GPU drivers fix a transcription error?
Premiere's on-device speech model uses the GPU for processing. Outdated or missing drivers cause the model to fail silently and return "No dialogue found."
Can a cloud-synced project folder cause this error?
Yes. If the .prproj file sits in Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud, the sync client can interrupt Premiere while it writes the transcript, causing the error.
What's the difference between Delete Unused and manually clearing the cache?
Delete Unused only removes unreferenced files. A database collision requires deleting everything in both the Media Cache Files and Media Cache Database folders on disk.
Why should I install the language pack from inside Premiere instead of the Creative Cloud app?
The Creative Cloud app can install the pack against a different Premiere build than the one you're running. Installing from Premiere's own language dropdown ensures it matches your version.
