In CapCut desktop, auto lyrics splits on the pauses it detects. If the vocal is dense or the track never drops out, you get one long bar of text. The fix is to set a shorter caption length before you generate, and to split any long bar into lines before you add an animation template.
Set the caption length before you generate
- In the auto lyrics panel, find the length control next to the Generate button. Depending on your version, it's labeled Caption length, Line breaks or Split.
- Set it so each line holds only a few words.
- Click Generate and check that the lyrics break into short lines on the timeline.
If it still comes out as one bar, test the same song with a 15-second cut. If that cut splits normally, the dense vocals in the full track are the cause, and the length setting is the fix. If the 15-second cut also makes one bar, the problem is probably your CapCut install. A clean reinstall takes less time than debugging the timeline.
Split long bars before you apply a template
Auto lyrics builds a timing map for every word under the text. Animation templates follow that map, not the words you see. If you trim a long bar or type extra words after a template is on, the word count stops matching the map, and words start to disappear. Split first, then style.
- Break the long bar into your final lines while it's still plain text.
- Apply your animation template to each line.
If you make lyric videos often, use a sturdier route. Make an SRT file with the lines already broken and import it through CapCut's local subtitle import. Each line arrives as its own segment with its own timing, and you can edit the words in a plain text editor. It takes more setup the first time, but you'll fight less with it later.

FAQ
Why do words disappear when I edit a long lyric bar?
Auto lyrics builds a timing map for each word, and templates follow that map. Trimming the bar or typing extra words after a template is applied breaks the match, so words vanish. Split the bar into lines first, then apply the template.
