When Canva takes minutes to show a blank editor and elements never finish loading, the slowdown usually comes from the connection between your internet provider and Canva. Connect to a VPN and reload Canva, and it should load normally again.
These steps are for Canva in a web browser. Any VPN works, so use one you already have or pick a free one.
How to get Canva loading with a VPN
- Install a VPN. Install any VPN app or browser extension on the computer you use for Canva. If you already have one, skip this step.
- Connect to a VPN server. Open the VPN and connect to any server it offers. The quick connect button is fine.
- Reload Canva. Go back to your Canva tab and press Ctrl+R on Windows or Cmd+R on Mac. You can also click the reload button next to the address bar.
- Open your design. Open the design you were working on. The editor should load in seconds, along with your elements, photos and templates.
A VPN sends your traffic along a different route to Canva. If your provider slows down traffic to Canva, or the usual route in your area has trouble, the VPN goes around it.
Once Canva loads fine without it again, you can turn the VPN off.
